The state of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil is about the size of two Floridas in the USA, and approximately 90% of the state has been inundated, affecting over 366 cities with waters reaching at least halfway up the homes. The federal government has not been sufficiently active in addressing the issues, and the majority of rescues are being carried out by civilian volunteers. The situation is chaotic, and the people are at the mercy of their own fate. Digital influencers have been making significant efforts and raising millions in funds to help, but with minimal state presence and unpreparedness, everyone is doing what they can.
